Diary | Friend from Japan

The past weekend I ventured the city with my friends. Daisy's childhood friend Maya, who now lives in Japan and hasn't been back to New Zealand since 8 years came to visit! She was very lovely and easy going. We took the bus to the city since we didn't want to bother our parents and Daisy wasn't keen on driving to the city. 

We chatted effortlessly on the way there but were starving on arrival. We crawled the street to Sal's, which I still don't understand why when there were perfectly good cafes near the bus station! Not to dwell, we filled our stomachs and off we went to empty our wallets.

There is no in between, I either am all teeth in photos or all passive. All or nothin.

H is for heaven.

It wasn't that great. That's saying something considering I was starving. But it could just be a bad day because I remember I enjoyed Sal's the last time I went.

I was considering on buying a box because they gave me a sample of the strawberry and cream tea and it was amazing. Bare in mind I hate strawberry flavoured things but I didn't want to be rude and I try to give things a chance before I decide I dislike them first. I'm glad I did because that's the tea I'm getting next time. I guess the tea effect takes away the milky taste I find most strawberry flavoured things have. However I didn't buy them this time because I have two boxes of tea sitting on my desk as I type this.

Our last stop was Milse!

The little dessert bar was packed. I thought we would have been denied entry but I guess expensive places are expensive for a reason; because the waitress greeted us with a smile despite being extremely busy and asked if we minded being seated at the cafe next door instead since we could still order the desserts from there. From there on the waiter from the cafe took over, he was very friendly and funny. If you go there you won't miss him because he has long hair at the top that is tied into a little knot and a shaved undercut.

Apparently we ordered all the popular items. Everything was delicious! The only thing I didn't enjoy was the beetroot in my green tea ice cream...but from my understanding beetroot is not an uncommon thing to use in dessert to tone down the sweetness. Personal preference I guess and it wasn't a biggie, I just picked mine out. 

We asked the waiter to help take photos for us and he made sure to take an high angle shot because he said those are great for facebook.

We called it a day and hopped ona  bus back home. This time the ride had less talking because we were busy nodding off from exhaustion.

Once home I relaxed with Orange is The New Black before my family headed out for dinner! Stuffed, stuffed, stuffed.

I might as well post some photos from Saturday too when my cousin Irrene came up to Auckland to visit and took my cousin Hout and I out for a catch up over food. It was a double whammy because we got to meet her new boyfriend *winky face*. He was very cultured because he was familiar with every topic bought up from LoL, to Lord of The Ring, to Uni reputations, and to even women's hockey(!).
