Today is Sunday so I had hockey training, three times in a row now. I tried out my new skort and am amazed at how comfortable they are. I found I played better in them.
While practicing my slap shots I realised the link to what I had been learning in physics class! It's actually quite exciting.
We were taught torque and when trying to decide on how best to place my hands to get stronger hits without too much effort I realised I should apply the torque theory. For a larger torque I have to apply force further away from the pivot point. Now before I realised I could apply the torque theory to a slap shot I had always held my hockey stick with one hand on the tip and one hand almost mid point (it's a habit from playing defense) and by placing my second hand at almost the mid point, I therefore create a pivot there. The problem is the pivot is then much too close to the ball. After moving my hands higher I created a pivot much further from the ball therefore the ball traveled faster and harder without me applying much force.
It had always puzzled me before how the guys managed to have such hard slap shots without looking like they're trying. Now I know the technique too, thanks to physic class.
I ordered the peach nata, tofu with rice and their curry chicken with rice. The nata and tofu are I'm favourites from the place.
Here's what I wore today.
♥Top - Portmans
♥Vest - DIY and hand-me-downs from a cousin
♥Shorts - Dotti
♥Shoes - By Ghanda
♥Bag - Thrifted in the city
My lookbook:

I don't know why but you look so young in the first photo, it's adorable! *pedo mode*
ReplyDeleteClaps for physics, so that's how it comes into play with real-life. Sweet outfit, as usual. I'm not a fan of vests but you really work it well.
Also, expecting a girlfriend tag from Johnny soon! ;) x
