Diary | Amstel in love with you

You guessed it, it's my Amsterdam travel diary! This is hands down my favourite city from the tour, so be sure to check out the rest of the post for a photo spam.

The first thing we did in Amsterdam was explore their stereotype, basically.
We visited a clog and cheese maker. Yeah, I know, we totally went there. He made clogs AND cheese. He's the most peculiar man you'll ever meet. He's all happy chappy and most definitely high. His cheese were delicious, if you're wondering.

Then we settles into our hotel/hostel (idk what this one was).

We got a mini walking tour into town and then left to our own devices. Daisy, Goeun and I BADLY craved Asian food. We used Yelp to find the best Ramen option and set out for the place. We were not disappointed.

Everyone else had got to the Sex Show, an apparent must-do in Amsterdam. Since we decided to sit that one out, we went to a Sex Musuem(???)
It's as weird as it sounds.
All the penises. So much penises.

 And vaginas.

 Mata Haris

We went into a souvenir store (there's a lot) and saw some goodies.

They had a pet cat. 10/10 would recommend.

We popped into a bar while waiting for our us home. We ordered tea and used wifi, of course. The bar tender had a pretty good Kiwi accent.

Cut to the next day we finally got to see and explore Amsterdam in daylight.

Another bike tour! Our guide was certainly high too. He was a hoot and a half.

 Love this city!

Oh what would we do without Starbucks?

Popped into a Mexican place for lunch. The waiters/waitresses who stand outside the restaurants are very sweet. Of course it can be harrassing to be called at left and right, but it's kinda their job to draw attention. The one in Amsterdam at least do so by being polite, "are you hungry darlings?". I was just telling Daisy how I really appreciate that if they're going to annoy us, they might as well do it in a kind way. Aaaaaaaand then just as I finished that sentence some waiter called us tigers and kept making tiger claws with his hands. It was all very weird and I didn't really know how to react.

 Time for the Rijksmuseum!

 Aw yeah.

The Crucifixion by Jacob Conerlsz van Oostsanen, c.1475-1533.

Prior to the visit I didn't know any Netherlandish artist, but this painting is definitely one to remember. I wish my photo would do justice to the fine details. Magdalene's hair is especially beautiful!

Summer Luxuriance by Jacobus van Looy, 1855-1930.

 Y'all all know this one.

Still life with flowers and nuts by Anthony Oberman, 1781-1845.

Didn't know I was a fan of Romantic paintings until the moment I set eyes on this one.

Shipwreck of a rocky coast by Wijnand Nuijen, 1813-1839.

The battle of Terheide by Villiam van de Velde I (1611-1693)

 Holy moly. Literally, "holy".

 Bikes, bikes everywhere.

Where we had our last dinner together.

We ended the night on a cruise boat with an open bar. And yes Daisy and I ordered 7 up. #turntup

It was a pretty weird feeling knowing that the tour was ending. It was a little bitter sweet for myself. I never wanted to stop seeing new places but I was relishing over the thought of doing things at my own pace.

The next morning some people left us while the rest of the group hopped on the bus to take us back to the starting point, London.

We passed through Brugge, Belgium for lunch.

Daisy and I visited many chocolate shops and bought pretty sugared goods as souvenir.

The macarons are sparkly if you'll notice!

We had to catch a ferry from France back to London and I had terrible sea sickness along the way. Once back at the London Hostel I showered and felt a whole chapter better. Turns out a lot of the people from our tour were staying at the same hostel, along with the guide so we all went out for Thai food together! The small restaurant barely held us. We had another awkward and sad goodbye at the end before going our separate ways. But it's nice to know now we've made friends from all around the world. It's one of the many perks of travelling.

Don't worry this won't be the end of my travel posts (ok I know you weren't worrying but figure of speech ok). I stayed another week in London and had a whole other adventure there!
