Okay now comes the post for the most photogenic city ever. Venice!
*I booked the "Winter Express" tour with Top Deck*
Day 5 & 6
Our drive to Venice took longer than expected so we would have arrived at the destination pretty late. Given that, we had a pit stop in Verona as consolation. No one was complaining about that.
An old arena!
We made our way to Juliet's balcony, or really, Giuliet's balcony.
We found walls covered in love notes.
Here is the balcony itself. I'm sure I would have been more impressed if I was a huge fan of Romeo and Giulet, but frankly, I've enjoyed better from Shakespeare. (I still like the story, just like, not crazy about it)
Here's a statue of Giulet. People rub her right boob for good luck. Now keep in mind she's suppose to be 13 hahaha.
Not even in Venice yet and we get Venetian masks.
It was cold but I wanted to say I had gelato. I got one scoop and it looks quite tragic on camera.
Fashionable grannies everywhere in Italy.
They just had a festival! Unfortunately we didn't get to see it.
In case you haven't realised, all my photos from the Europe trip was taken on my iPhone 5. This means zooming is out of the question unless I want photos of pixels. I tried to capture a red sunset but this was the best I could do...
After settling into our hotel, we went to have dinner. REAL ITALIAN SPAGHETTI <3 and="" entree.="" just="" p="" the="" this="" was="">3>
Cut to the next day we arrived at the Venice canals!
Keep in mind that it was very gloomy and cold the day I went and yet the city is photo-ready as ever. I can't imagine how much more beautiful this place would be in warmer months.
There was quite heavy flooding but it damper our moods much...maybe just our socks.
And of course, the mandatory gondola ride.
Happy chappy.
After the ride how ever I came down with a fever.
I was getting so cold so thankfully we found this cute little restaurant that had green tea! It's honestly so hard to get green tea in restaurants in Europe. They basically only drink Earl Grey and English breakfast.
We ordered a wrapped pizza. It's like a pizza and pita had a baby.
We bumped into Danielle and played with some pigeons. THEY ARE REALLY FAT IN VENICE. I suspect it's from the cold.
By the end of the day I was miserable with my fever in full swing. I got back to the hotel and became a log. A very sore log. I don't know if everyone else gets very sore all over their body during a fever because I do and it sucks. I always thought it was just part of having a fever but I found out Daisy was not sore during her fever in Switzerland. Which would explain why she was still able to build snow-people and walk around town (I was wondering so but I just concluded she was strong willed to have fun hahaha). Luckily after nursing myself to bed from 6pm to morning doing nothing, and getting two separate massages from Daisy and Yuhyeon (a roommate at the hotel), I woke up the next morning practically healed.
Venice was worth getting a fever over. I hope everyone get a chance to see this city soon because it really is becoming more and more flooded.
